Which option do I choose on the product page?

Choose Essential Unfinished under Choose Color Group, then pick your size. Links from this page open that option for you.

Do unfinished cabinets cost more or less?

Essential Unfinished is the same price as our Essential Shaker painted finish.

How should I prepare them for paint?

Assemble the boxes, then remove doors, drawer fronts and hardware. Lightly sand, wipe off the dust, prime with a quality primer and finish with two thin coats of a cabinet-grade paint. Always follow your paint maker's instructions, and test on a hidden spot first.

Can I stain them instead of painting?

Yes, you can stain or clear-coat them. Test your stain on a hidden area first, because how it takes depends on the material and your prep.

Is the hardware the same as the finished Platinum cabinets?

Yes. Unfinished cabinets use the same Platinum construction: 1/2" plywood boxes, full overlay doors and drawers, 6-way adjustable soft-close hinges and full-extension soft-close drawer glides.

No. Cabinets ship unfinished, and paint, primer and supplies are not included.

Can you help me plan the layout?

Yes. Send your measurements through our Get Quote form and our team will plan your kitchen and parts list at no cost.
